OUR FOCUS

About

The Urban Blackwell is a consulting firm dedicated to helping healthcare and community-based organizations build stronger cultures, equitable systems, and people-centered strategies. Founded by a community health advocate, public health professional, and organizational leader. The Urban Blackwell was created to address issues witnessed across decades of service: systems and workplace cultures that often place greater burdens on the very people they are meant to serve.

Our work blends lived experience and technical expertise, ranging from frontline healthcare to executive leadership, from community health education to state policy advocacy. We partner with organizations to uncover root causes, identify structural barriers, and design clear, actionable solutions that strengthen workforce well-being and improve outcomes for the communities they serve.

At The Urban Blackwell, we believe data tells a story, but people give it meaning. That’s why our approach integrates rigorous analysis with cultural humility, trauma-informed practice, deep community partnership, and systems thinking. We help organizations move beyond surface-level change to achieve measurable impact in equity, performance, and trust that lasts.

We believe health equity means more than equal access it requires addressing the root causes of disparity, balancing power, and ensuring that policies, practices, and organizational cultures do not perpetuate harm. Our work is guided by the lived experiences of communities most affected by inequities, and we are committed to using data, collaboration, and cultural humility to close gaps and create lasting change.
